Anita Cowley is a
collaboratively trained attorney as well as a
seasoned litigator. She received her Bachelor of
Arts degree in Criminal Justice from the
University of Toronto in 1990 and was awarded
her JD from Georgia State University College of
Law in 1994. Anita is admitted to practice law
in Colorado and Georgia and before the United
States District Court for the District of
Colorado. She has attained Level II
Certification from the Colorado Collaborative
Law Professionals and is a member of its
Training Committee.
During law school, Anita was a member of her
school's Dean's List as well as the National
Dean's List. She held the positions of President
of the Legal Association of Women and Treasurer
of the Student Bar Association. She was a member
of Phi Delta Phi Legal Honors Fraternity and was
a recognized student in Who's Who Among American
Law Students.
Since being admitted to
practice law in Colorado in 1997, Anita's
practice has focused on general civil
litigation. She was an associate with the law
firm of Moyer, Beal and Vranesic from 1997
through 2000, when she joined Ruegsegger Thomas,
a workers' compensation defense firm, as an
associate. In 2002, Anita began a solo practice
that continued her emphasis on civil litigation.
In 2004, she joined Gushurst Family Law and has
been practicing exclusively in the area of
family law matters, representing clients in both
collaborative and traditional divorce cases.
Anita is a member of the
Colorado Bar Association, the Denver Bar
Association, the First Judicial District Bar
Association and the Colorado Collaborative Law
Professionals. She is an active runner, skier
and reader and is an enthusiastic mother and
cook. She is on the Board of Colorado
Collaborative Law Professionals.
