I was born and raised in Peoria,
Illinois and went East to college, graduating
from Amherst in 1971. After working for two
years at a state mental hospital in Boston, I
entered graduate school, completed an internship
at Duke University Medical Center, and obtained
a Ph.D. from the University of Nebraska in 1980
in clinical psychology with a minor in law and
psychology. I then returned to central Illinois
in 1980 to take a faculty position at the
University Of Illinois College Of Medicine, and
I continued to work in the medical school and in
private practice for the next 26 years. I moved
to Colorado in 2006 to live near, and ultimately
have a practice with, my daughter, who is also a
psychologist.
Consistent with my education and training, I
have broad experience and interests in both
clinical and forensic psychology (the
application of the science and profession of
psychology to questions and issues relating to
law and the legal system). Clinically, I have
significant experience as a psychotherapist
helping people of all ages with a variety of
psychological problems from mild to severe. My
forensic work often includes performing
psychological evaluations in the context of some
criminal or civil legal problem, such as
divorce. However, being a collaborative law
coach and mediator also falls within the scope
of my general, forensic practice. In summary, I
provide psychological services to adults,
couples, children, and families in the role of a
coach, mediator, therapist, or evaluator.
I am a member of the American Psychological
Association, the Colorado Psychological
Association, the Metropolitan Denver
Interdisciplinary Committee, the Association of
Family and Conciliation Courts, and of course,
the Rocky Mountain Collaborative Law
Professionals.
Personally, I enjoy outdoor activities, singing,
cooking, and reading.
