Steve McBride became a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst in 2003, and a mediator the following year. Diligent and caring, he has a unique blend of logic, skill, compassion, calm and humor to help his clients work through the financial issues and implications of their divorce. He helps his clients gather and analyze all the financial data and then works with them to produce budgets and creative tax efficient financial options and solutions that help reduce the inevitable stress that accompanies separation and divorce. He is passionate about helping his clients understand the financial implications of divorce and to prepare financially for their future lives.
He also drafts QDROs for the division of retirement plans.
Steve’s earlier career was in management consulting helping businesses, public sector organizations and not-for-profits improve performance through better leadership, people development, and planning. Having become a consulting partner of an international accounting firm at a relatively young age, Steve went on to lead niche management consulting firms specializing in management and organization development, and family businesses issues. Since moving back to Denver after 18 years in England, Steve worked in venture capital until he started his practice as a Divorce Financial Analyst and Mediator in 2003.
Steve holds a BS from Nebraska Wesleyan University and an advanced degree in public and international affairs with an emphasis on economic development, econometrics & public policy analysis from the University of Pittsburgh. In addition to being accredited by the Institute of Divorce Financial Analysts, he is a professional member of Mediation Association of Colorado, a member of the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals, a founding member of the Academy of Professional Family Mediators, and a Patron of the Colorado Bar Association (member of family law and ADR sections). He is a co-founder of GriefLink.com, an international resource for people who are grieving.
Steve’s outside interests include rugby, playing drums, painting, camping and web site design.
